Tifffany's Ramblings

I had a big photo shoot today, and I think I am completely caught up photographing my FO's (unless I happen to find some that I forgot). First, I rephotographed the Blueberry Twist socks that are a Xmas present for Vance. Scroll down or click here to see a much better pic. I also photographed the Oblivion Eyemask from Knitty. It still didn't photograph perfectly because it is so dark and my patio is all in shade, but here it is:

I also finished the Kid's Afghan I was working on the other day and photographed that. This picture came out the worst of the bunch because it contains a lot of red and digital cameras tend not to like red. It's not so crazy IRL and will be a Xmas present for my cousin's little girl, who is in first grade now.

Next up, some sewing pics. First, I made a quilted crochet hook case and a quilted circular needle case. I always had my circs hanging on thumbtacks in my bulletin board, but this way I have them all on one thing and I can arrange them according to size, whee. Here they are:

These both match the lining of my Booga Bag AND they match a basket that I tore off the old lining on and added new stuff.

Last but not least, I took the pillows I had in the living room and slipcovered them so they matched each other more. I had 2 from my old dorm days that were a dark blue chenille, 2 from Vance's parents that came with the furniture that were a medium blue with dots and ruffles around the edges, and one that is a Halloween tapestry pillow that I like to take out at the holidays (I've also made a Xmas slipcover for it). So I took an old fleece blanket I had that I didn't want anymore and an additional yard of a lighter blue fleece from wally world, and for $6 I have 5 pillows that all match and are softer and more plump (the 2 layers of fleece really did make a different). Here is the finished product:

They don't all go on the couch, that was just for photography purposes. Well that's all...phew! I'm now working on baby stuff for Xmas out of Woolease Sport...which probably won't be done for awhile. We are planning to go see the new Exorcist movie tonight, so that should be fun.

(Don't go back to) Sockville

Bonus points to anyone who knows where my title is from (...and you should, teehee), but anyways, I have several finished pairs of socks to show off. First off is a pair I finished awhile ago but forgot to photograph what with the move and defense and all. These are made of Lion Brand's Magic Stripe sock yarn in the color "Lumberjack". These will be very cozy to wear while sitting in front of the fire (yes, my new place has a fireplace, whee). Also, whenever I see or think about them I get to sing "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okaaaay". (More bonus points for those who know that, hehe). But anyways, here they are:

I even matched the stripes up so the socks are the same, fun fun.

Next up are the socks I was making for Vance for Xmas. These are out of Woolease sport in "Blueberry Twist", and they are really nice and soft. Unfortunately we've had storms for a week so I haven't had a good opportunity to photograph them and eventually just gave up. Also the editing software I had before won't install anymore (we upgraded it to XP) so I can't lighten or crop, boo. But here they are:

Finally my Trekking XXL socks, which came out very nice. I don't know why I picked the particular colorway, it's nice but kinda funky. It's a jacquard with purple, yellow, and pink-white mottled stripes. I have a lot of this yarn left, definitely enough for some baby/kid's socks.

That's all folks! More updates when I get better lighting and more motivation.

I have several new FO's to report...some of which I've photographed. The rest are awaiting better lighting...the reason why I didn't do it today? Around 10:30 am I got a knock on the door and it was some guy who said he'd been hired to reglaze the tub in our bedroom. About 6 hours later he was finally leaving, our apartment stinks to high heaven, and we can't use that tub for 48 hours. We are very unhappy with the apt management for not telling us this guy was coming or anything. It still stinks in here and I can't get the bedroom window to shut all the way...so I had to wedge a towel in there to keep the rain out and the cool air in. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Anyways, without further ado, the FO's. First off we have a simple hat knit with Woolease Chunky and ready for Xmas gifting:

Next, some polymer clay ornaments I have been working on. These started out as a present for my papaw for Xmas...he used to work for a railroad company and he collects train paraphenalia:

Then, I decided to do some for myself and others:

I didn't draw the pictures on them, obviously, I used a neato idea I got from some HGTV show where you can burnish a picture onto uncured clay if you print it with toner (not regular printer ink) and rub alcohol over it several times. And voila, a little bit of color mixing, some aging stuff (in the case of the train ones), etc and it's done. I still need to put a ribbon through them and maybe some beads...so they may end up being even purtier. I have several more things to photograph which I might get to tomorrow.

Wooo I just finished the Trekking socks! I would post a pic but my camera is off in Indy with Vance :(. He is coming home tomorrow tho so I will be lonely no longer. Speaking of my socks, I have a ton of yarn leftover from them. Almost half the skein, I'd guess...definitely enough to make some baby/child socks with. That makes the $15.40 price of the stuff a little more bearable.

Yesterday I hit the Hobby Lobby sale that Janine informed me of. I bought one ball of Woolease Chunky (which is going towards a hat) and 3 balls each of 3 diff colors of Lion Brand Landscapes (at $2.44 a skein!). It's really pretty stuff, 50% wool, and supposedly felts...so we will see what comes of this.

I also sewed a bunch of stuff, which I will blog about more when the camera comes home, probably.

As promised, I have several FO's to show off. The Winnie the Pooh doll went off as a gift before I had a chance to photograph it, but here is some other stuff. First off, a valence I sewed out of some satin fabric with a black and white oriental leaf print for our computer room. The picture doesn't show it off very well, but it is very shiny and has black bias tape at the buttom and a silver button at the point.

Next up, a few ripple scarves designed to use up some of my stash:

Last but not least, a couple of WIP socks. First off, a pair for Vance out of Woolease Sport:

.

Also, a pair for me out of some Trekking XXL:

.

The color isn't really accurate on those, but maybe I can get a better picture once I get them finished. I have some ornaments I've made as well but those pics didn't come out so they will have to wait.

Wooooooooo I've finally got everything edited and up on this thing. I took out all the old WIP photos since the links didn't work anyways and I wasn't changing them, resorted all my pics into folders so it wasn't such a mess, and put up all my galleries since I have enough space (this is Vance's website and he has tons of room). In crafting news, I've finished several things and have taken pics but I haven't got the camera hooked up yet since I am on a different computer now, so they will have to wait.

Yesterday after I defended my thesis, we went out to eat one last time at Vance's fave restaurant which just happens to be next to a Joann's (which is how we found the restaurant) so I got to go inside. They had all sorts of new yarn. I bought 2 skeins of Paton's classic wool with a matching shade of Allure to make some sort of bag or something. Also I got some Bernat Ping Pong cause it was so sparkly and funky and the new FCEK. I really like a couple of the projects in there.

I went through my yarn stash and pulled out some yarn I want to get rid of but since I've deleted my paypal account I'm not sure how easy it would be to sell them on ebay. I will have to see about that. Vance is leaving tomorrow until Sunday when he will be doing the guy thing in Indianapolis (well, his version of a guy thing, which has to do with RPG's...and not the kinky kind). So I will be all alone with my crafting and job hunting, expect several updates!

Welcome to my new home!! It's been awhile since I've posted cause charter actually took down my website, and a lot has happened. We're all moved in now and just got back from Atlanta (again) where I completed the final final final step of my Master's degree, defending my thesis. I passed and now school is behind me (at least for now)...woo! I also found a fun knitting store pretty near me. The prices are a bit high but there's so much nice fiber to fondle. I bought a ball of Touch Me and maed the plush eyemask from Knitty and also a ball of sock yarn which I am working into socks for me, mmmm. I'm still working on some websitey stuff so not too much here for now, more later.
