Girl, your socks are toe-up!
Well, late last night I finished the toe-up socks I had been knitting. A funny thing tho...I don't care for them. After I was done, I tried them and the socks I made for my dad on, and the latter had SUCH a better fit. The toe-up ones are very tight in the area opposite the heel (like the front of the ankle) and it doesn't feel so good...also makes em hard to get on. I can only imagine how tight they would be if there weren't little holes by the heel...gah! Well...the moral of the story is I don't like them and I won't be making them again. Which is fine because then I don't have to worry about splitting balls anymore...woohoo. Here they are tho, in all their glory:

Hail the conquering hero...
Ok so maybe I didn't really conquer anything, but I have made a lot of progress. I finally buckled down and worked some more on a toe up sock and whatever mistakes I made I just pushed right past them. It is turning out alright...except there are some small gaps on the sides of the heel which I am trying to figure out how to close. I think the way I picked up the wraps and such wasn't quite correct, but I think I finally found a good website which gives a lot of details. I am going to try this method on sock #2. The sock is still fine...just not completely perfect...so I will have to give em away or else I will nitpick until I tear them apart (literally). That's just how I am :-P. Anyways, here is a pic of the sock, almost done:

Pain-In-The-Neck Pouch
I think I mentioned before that I was working up the leftovered dyed wool I had to make a little bag. Ugh, what a mess. So I knit up the 2 pieces and felted them but they felted oddly and not even the same amount. On top of that, somehow the colors changed and they were more different than before. So then I overdyed to make them match...but then they smelled (ew). Anyways I then machine stitched the zipper on and sewed them together, stretching and such since they felted to diff sizes, then I washed in cold to get the smell out. It felted a little more from this but whatever. Anyways, here is the finished product:

Sometimes we're not as evolved as we think...
Or maybe it's just me. Yesterday I was carrying a ball of yarn back upstairs (I had used it for some waste yarn)...and whenever I carry a ball of yarn I just have to toss it. Well I got halfway up the stairs, dropped it...and it rolled to the bottom. Cursing the yarn...I went down, picked it up...and started my journey anew. This time I got past the landing when I dropped it...it fell down the few steps to the landing...not too bad...but then went all the way down the second set of stairs as well. UGH! Why don't I learn? How animalistic can I be? Anyways...after that I sadly forced myself not to play and finally put it away.

My finals are over...yay! My work is not tho...I have a final to proctor on Thursday and grading to be done for that. Oh well.

I stopped by the store today on my way home to buy some more wool yarn and there was this whole brand spankin' new display. Apparently lion brand now makes crochet hooks and knitting needles...in some nice swanky colors, I might add. This company is going to take over pretty soon! Unfortunately I didn't need any so I forced myself to not buy any...so when I do get some I will find out how they work. Time to sew up my little zippered pouch thingy now...pics later maybe

Today is frightning with thoughts of my upcoming Hilbert Spaces final this afternoon. Well, I have absorbed as much as I think I can...it's just a lot of theorems to remember along with all their conditions/requirements...and then to be able to pull them out at the appropriate time! Ugh at grad classes with in class closed everything tests! (Actually I prefer in class tests...I just get panicky right before them).

I used up almost all the rest of my dyed wool on the second pair of fuzzy feet slippers. They're pretty big...prolly a men's medium/large (yay). I have a tiny bit left I am knitting into 2 rectangles then I will felt and either make a little zippered makeup bag or an eyeglasses case depending on how large they are after felted. And then I will be done with this skein forever, yay. Well that's about all for now...long day today and another test tomorrow so I will have more time tomorrow afternoon.

Saturday, July 26, 2003

OK so maybe I need to give up on this sock obsession...it's just not working out. I get to a certain point and then realize something is wrong. Also I tend to end up with an extra stitch...somehow. Hrm...perhaps I will just leave it alone for awhile and come back to it later. So instead, I went back to some more fuzzy feet slippers. I still had some yarn left in the shade of my other slippers so I made it into 2 balls and am just gonna knit til I run out. There has got to be a better way to split a skein...it took me about 2 hours just to split about half...cause of the many many many many many knots I ran into. Anyone have a good way of splitting a skein equally which does not result in tons of knots and wasted energy? Let me know.

I finished sewing up the neck pillow. I got this pattern at freepatterns.com and while it is nice, it was a pain in the neck (excuse the pun). The piece was worked in 2 sides (front and back) with the same pattern for each side but the pattern is NOT symmetric. So you either have to have one wrong side and one right side or struggle to make them fit together (I chose the latter). Luckily, I made this out of Woolease Sportweight (with 2 strands held together) so after I washed the front and back there was quite a bit of give to make up for all the mutilation I did to it. Here is a pic of the finished result:

Not sure what is next on the docket...I think I am going to ball up the surplus yarn from this project (there is plenty since i pulled from 2 skeins) and reattempt the toe up sock.

Woke up early this morning and ordered some yarn from joann.com which I had been lusting after. It is the Lion Brand Magic Stripes yarn which self stripes as you knit socks. Joann is running a special where you get free shipping through 2003 if you make 3 $25 purchases and also they had a special this week for free shipping anyways. Good stuff. The neck pillow is almost finished, I just have to finish sewing it and stuff it...it is being very uncooperative...pics later.

Ok so I've got a new comment thingy up and running...it's another webhosted one i.e. temporary.

My Blog is sick...can someone call a doctor?

So my comments have been on and off for awhile...but now it seems they are permanently off. Serves me right for using a comment thing from a website. I tried some others but never got them to work. If anyone knows of a good program and how to use it...please email me at goble@math.gatech.edu ... it would be greatly appreciated. Besides that I am working on the neck pillow and not having a good week so more updates later.

Curses...foiled again!
Well, last night I got pretty close to the end of my current project. I probably could have finished or gotten close except for edging, but....I've hurt my wrist. Strained, it seems. And sleeping didn't help much, since I tend to put it under me. Argh! I don't know how I'm going to teach today...and I am too close to the end of this to let it sit. I spose I will have to grin and bear it. If anyone reads this (questionable) and wants to see a picture of my mystery project (doubtful) when I am finished...which will be soon...just leave an e-mail addy in comments and I will zip it off to you when I am done.

Monday, July 21, 2003

Ok bleh I have nothing to say but I posted something and couldn't delete it. Well I finished my bulky socks for my dad awhile ago and finally got the pic up. That's all...enjoy.

It's dead week, and I'm feeling it. For all you non Georgia-Tekkies Dead Week is the last week of classes before finals...supposedly no tests/quizzes take place and usually no homework exchanges hands but it is still a very taxing week. I am actually giving a test Tuesday by orders of my lead professor...I wonder if the students will complain much. Which means finals next week, I only really have one I have to study for...the first one on Monday. The evil demon known as Hilbert Spaces, and the fact that my textbook has a lot of errors in it does nothing to help.

On the Project Front...
Since I finished the Bulky Socks I have completely abandoned my knitting (for now). I am working on a top secret project now (well not secret, as I said, I just don't want to wrong person to see it as it will be their X-Mas present) which is nearing completion (I may get very close tonight)...then I think I am going to make an airplane pillow for my boyfriend for his birthday. That's what happens when you don't tell me what you want! So I am going to try to develop a crochet pattern for that, which I will then post. I wanted to find the pattern I used to make the many knitted one-skein bags, but I think I just had it in my head and have since forgotten it. Oh well...perhaps I will find a little postie where I made some notes at least.

Saturday, July 19, 2003

So far I've had a very productive morning. Since I am still suffering from the inability to stay awake past midnight, I woke at 7:30. So far this morning I finished the bulky socks while watching Clockwork Orange, then cleaned the apartment, paid my bills, and worked on the new project I've begun. I'd like to talk about it here, but since it's a gift for someone I'd better not. Also, I put my phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, effective October 1st. I'm not sure if I hope more that the calls will completely stop or that I can bust some companies, bwahahaha. Well I am off to work some more on my top secret project. I had a hell of a time getting gauge...though it's crochet and I crochet at a very even, normal tension so I think the directions were off. Eventually I just gave up and added to it to make it larger...hopefully I will have sufficient yarn. We will see!

Just Like Alice...

As I was walking from my office back to my car today...something interesting happened. At one point, I walk through an area with trees on either side and below them are planted these plants with very tall stalks and leaves at the ends. The way they are made, with tall skinny stalks and large leaves, catches the wind just so and shakes them as if someone was physically moving them. So as I was walking along, there were all these leaves wagging back and forth...though not in unison. Although I felt a bit like I was being reprimanded for skipping class, I also had a sense of what Alice must have felt in that wonderful scene with the talking flowers...I think it was in the sequel. Ah, to be the star of my own fairy tale...if just for a moment.

Finally...

I got my butt in gear and took some progress pics. First, the bulky socks that I have been working on since what feels like forever: . My dad's got some big ol' feet. Next, the precious little baby cardigan which I haven't been spending so much time on either: This is just the back...I've got a couple more inches before I can take it off and then I've still got the 2 front sides, the sleeves, the button and neckband to go. Bah! Babies are so much trouble, hehe. But it is pretty fun to knit, although the instructions that I have leave a lot to be desired. More later when I make more progress.

Wednesday, July 16, 2003

I attempted to knit a toe-up sock today. I spent several hours knitting and ripping out several toes...and I finally got to the point where I need to pick up the opposing stitches...but now I am having trouble with this. Once I get past this last hurdle I think I will be good to go (and the toe-up patterns are much simpler to remember...which makes it even more portable! Plus I can do it all on one circular, woohoo). I will perhaps tackle that this weekend. For now, I cast the second bulky sock onto my fave all-purpose circular, so it is occupied. Ugh, maneuvering this bulky yarn on a size 3 is a pain in the butt. I won't try it again!

Well, I finished the first of 2 big bulky grey socks last night. I am also making decent progress on the baby cardigan I am making...still on the backside of it tho. The book people wrote me back and said they removed the charges...yay, I won! So I finally opened it and it is "Crochet on the Double Made Easy" and has 2 double ended hooks. Not bad for $0. Besides that I've been very busy with school stuff. More, and possibly pics, later.

Monday, July 14, 2003

Ugh, bad day.....let's not talk about it.

But......I am still in love with my boas! I love making them! I am so tempted to make more, but I have nothing to do with them. I wish I could sell them, hehehe. People are so cheap tho, it barely makes it worth the price of the yarn (let alone the skill and handicrafting). Oh well.

I started a baby cardigan. I am following the pattern exactly and working to gauge but it still seems like it's going to turn out disproportionate. Maybe there is something coming I haven't noticed. Ah well, more on a day that isn't crummy.

I got a book in the mail today that I did NOT order. I sent the little card thing in saying i wasn't interested. So I emailed the company and told them I was keeping it and not paying...we'll see what happens with that.

I've Been Bad
After organizing all my yarn so that I could see where it was, in hopes that I would use it instead of buying more...I bought more yarn yester. My pitfall is not so much that I go out searching for yarn (although I do that too from time to time), but that I find it at an irresistable price and just can't refuse. For example, yesterday I found 5 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun yarn in the same color and dyelot for just $1.75 a skein. How could I not buy that....that could make a luscious throw at a cheap price or several projects. In my defense, I used up about as much yarn as I bought yesterday. And what did I use it on? Well...

Out With the Old, In With the New...
I had a very productive day yesterday, finishing up some projects that I had started. First I finished the purse that I had been making out of Lion Brand Chenille Sensations. It worked up really nice. The picture doesnt show up so well but there is a button and loop closure on it. Then I finished the baby booties I had been knitting, meaning that I knitted the second bootie and then put the ribbons in. Here is what they look like finished:

I Enjoy Being A Girl
Well after finishing those I couldn't resist starting a new project. I had 2 skeins of Bernat Soft Bouclé that I had planned to use together to make some sort of a scarf. One was a solid Medium Rose and the other was a variagated color called Blooming Rose which complimented it well. So what did I make? A boa! I used the pattern on Lion's Website with some slight modifications (besides the yarn). I did an initial chain of 71 instead of 67 to make it a little longer and for the last repeat I just did the loops row and then joined the first and last rows with slip stitches...to close it up. I like it a lot better this way. the pattern on the website is written to be made with Chenille Thick & Quick. Why didn't I use it? For a couple of reasons... (1) I hate T&Q with a passion from the 2 times I tried using it and it shed terribly on me, (2) I like the Bouclé and it is easy to care for, and (3) I happened to have the Bouclé handy with the 2 specific colors I wanted to use together. So I crocheted the boa using 1 strand of each held together...and it only took a few hours. Of course after I finished it I loved it so much that I wanted one that I could keep (the pink one will be a gift) so I used my 2 matching balls of dark blue Bouclé to make one for myself (to play with, if nothing else). I love them both...the pattern is so easy and quick and they are so luscious and swanky looking! I really want one in red...hrmmmmm....who knows. Well, here they are in all their glory:

Friday, July 11, 2003

Alright...this is going to be short today because (1) I am too wrapped up in my crafting to write much, (2) I don't have much to say, and (3) my computer desk is slowly eating my keyboard shelf and it is quite incomfortable to type. Had a long day...went to my one class in a different building from my office and when I came out it was pouring. Now...I have 2 umbrellas...I keep one in my car and one in my office but of course I was at neither of these places so I got poured on for 10 minutes. And of course I had to teach class right after that so I am teaching....freezing in the AC. Bah! But I finished baby bootie #2...just have to sew it up and put the ribbons in them both and I will take a pic. Started a cute purse made out of Chenille Sensations. I love the big button and the shape of the bag. I got the Chenille on clearance for $.75 each! So I am making this out of Florence Print...and I think it will turn out pretty nice. :) If so I will make another and they will be xmas presents! Hrm....I am guessing that a button is measured by it's diameter...I will have to go through my stash and see what I've got for that.

I found out tonight that Bernat's website has some pretty decent free patterns...you just have to sign up for a free account and you get all of their (Bernat's) and Lily's patterns free. Pretty nice

Surfing around today I found this...a list of famous people who knit! Well...I thought it was mildly interesting

New Sock in Town

Well I didn't have a ton of time to do much of anything fun last night because I was busy being so disciplined. Yup I worked all night from about 2:30 til 10:30 on an assignment due on Friday...I was really tempted not to do it since I am just auditing the class and not actually receiving a grade...but since I do want to learn/review the stuff I forced myself to do it. Then I had to prepare for the other classes I have to teach this week. But after that....I had time to cast on and knit a few rows of a bulky sock made out of Woolease Chunky. I am knitting these in size 3 (just like regular socks) tho the patterns calls for 6 and 8's. Here is the pathetically little amount of knitting I did. Well, it is only a little bit but I plan to make a lot more progress on that tonight.

Slipper Mania

Speaking of progress, I finished my fuzzy feet slippers the other day and hadn't yet posted a pic. Well, here they are in all their glory: Also, I realize that I never posted pics of my garter stitch slippers here...just on my main site. Well...here are those too: They're very stretchy...but I like em. There is another pic of them on my knitting page!

A Stroll Down Memory Lane

When I was at the store the other day, I saw that they had already put out their halloween decorations. So, that motivated me to scan my Halloween Afghan that I made a few years ago. I bought the pattern to crochet this at Annie's Attic pretty much the moment I saw it...I knew I had to have it. I worked on it while I was doing my undergrad...it took a couple of months to complete. It was pretty simple too...basically all worked in single crochet with color changes....pretty much the intarsia version of crochet. I wrapped all the floats into the crochets...so there is some bleed through but I don't mind it. It was made in panels...1 middle, 4 sides, 4 corners...but then I didn't have to do ANY sewing because the border worked them all together! It is so fun! My mom loves it and really wants it...maybe some day I will make one for her...but it was kind of a pain so we shall see. Anyways...here is one picture of it: The with, ghosts, and bats were really fun to work! I've washed it 1x with no color bleeding. There is another picture on the crochet page of my main page but that one has worse color (yet better detail)!

Tuesday, July 08, 2003

Yay I finished slipper #2 tonight! They aren't identical...since the yarn is variagated and since I hand dyed it...so this one isn't stripey. Also I think it is just a smidgeon larger because I felted it at a different time. Although...my left foot is a little larger so that may be ok. I don't know what to do with the rest of my dyed yarn. I have about 4 -5 oz left that I would like to make something with. Maybe a little bag or a hat...would need to find single strand patterns for them. I might buy some Cha Cha for the cuffs next time, I have been dying for a reason to buy it...it seems so fun. I wonder if I could knit the slippers with the cha cha in them and then dye afterwards, assuming the cha cha won't take the dye because it's synthetic. Hrmmmm.....we will have to see.

Woohoo picture time! First off is the sock that I finished.... It came out alright I guess...I don't really like the way the toe is tho...which is why I want to do it toe up next time.

Now.....fuzzy slipper time!!!! First the before picture... This has bad coloring because I took it late at night before I felted. It's so misshapen...which I am not completely convinced that it isn't my fault. But it doesn't matter because here is the after......
That is much closer to the actual coloring...altho it is a bit brighter than that! And it is perfectly formed to my right foot! I love it...

I stopped at the store on the way home because I had a coupon and I wanted to get some more wool with it. They had a sale and I got some woolease worsted for only $.75 a skein! I feel some more socks coming out of those.

Alright before I go to bed I just have to say what a fantastic night I had. My homework for monday was postponed, a test I have to give was postponed (meaning the grading is postponed) AND i got to knit a fuzzy slipper all night. I felted it too...to make sure it came out right before I went on to make the other. It is sooooo nice.....really messy tho but looks great! It was my first felting experience. I love the way the yarn I dyed came out...and to tell the truth...it was kind of er...accidental...the variagated pattern was pretty much luck. Can't wait to make its mate!

Monday, July 07, 2003

My needles arrived today from Herrschners....woooooohoooooooo! I'm very excited about that (can you tell) so now I am knitting the fuzzy feet slippers from some Fisherman's wool that I hand dyed (I can't find anywhere around that sells dyed wool...I'll have to look into that). It is coming out very nice...I am so happy and excited. I also have some undyed wool I may knit the socks first and dye later!!! This pattern is so fast and easy too...I am very happy. Photos coming soon!

Sunday, July 06, 2003

Well I finished the sock tonight...it came out alright for my first completed sock ever. All the problems I had with the one on DPNs were fixed (gaps mainly). I don't really care for the final product though...not because of the knitting but because of the pattern. It has a weird heel and a very slim toe, which makes it slip under your foot and feel a bit uncomfortable. Which probably means I won't make a mate for it. I think I want to try a toe-up sock...it seems like it would come out a lot more seamless since increases are a lot neater than decreases (for me, at least). I should look around and try to find a good toe-up sock pattern that I can knit on 1 circular...since i really like this technique. Anyone know of a good one? I would really like to knit it on size 3 or larger if possible (that is small enough for me!). I think I will go back to my scarf for now since it is simple and is guaranteed not to disappoint.

Alright...picture time! Some of these are kind of fuzzy cause I had the hiccups while I was taking them. First off, my winter set that I am making out of homespun yarn.

The yarn doesn't really show up that well cause it was getting dark outside...but it is Lion Brand HomeSpun in Corinthian. There is red, purple, green, and a yellowy orange in it..sooo pretty. The hat and mittens are done and the scarf I am working in seed stitch...and am not very far along on as is obvious. I have the rest of that skein left and almost 2 full other skeins, so it could end up being very long if I want :)

Next comes my sock in progress: This one I am just working using Wool-Ease sportweight yarn in Turquoise to practice. Eventually I want to use self striping sock yarn (although none of the stores near me carry it so I will have to order it or find some other inventive way to buy it). The patterns that I have call for each round being only 48 stitches, which is pretty tight with sportweight on size 3 needles. Most of the other patterns I have seen call for about 60 stitches when using sportweight and size 3 needles. Oh well.

Finally, the baby booties I am making:

This one is done except that I have to put a ribbon through the eyelets and tie it in a bow. Whenever I tie a bow it looks all funny, how come others come out perfect looking? grrrr. Ah well, he still needs a mate, which I will get to eventually. I'm knitting this with baby fingering weight yarn on size 3 straight needles. I hate sewing pieces...even the tiny little bit here. Which is why I just wanna work on socks (once I am happy with them)...for now anyways.

Well I spent most of the long weekend grading tests and homeworks and preparing for recitations. Cleared the way to have some time to do my own work this week tho. I really hope my needles come soon, I emailed Herrschners to ask why it says they have not been shipped yet and am waiting on a reply. I am still dying to do the fuzzy feet slippers!

Saturday, July 05, 2003

The whole reason that I learned how to knit was to make socks, and I am finally getting to do it! After having once completed a sock all the way to the toe using DPNs and being unhappy with the process and the result I finally ripped it out because I didn't want to make its mate. When I first started with the single circular it was a bit of a struggle...but now it is just going so well! I get a much more even tension because I don't have to try to knit tightly in places where 2 dpn's join. Also I can make it even by pulling the yarn since the stitches are slipped off the needle and onto the thinner cable. I am knitting a basic sock with a slightly twisted ribbing using Susan Bate's #3 29" circular...I wish it was a little longer but that's the best they had. Don't even try to knit with the magic loop using a Boye, they are way too stiff (I tried). Plus the ones I bought were sticky for some reason...ew. I am finally to the fun part of knitting the flap and turning the heel...hurrah! Off to do that now (or some of it). We will see if the single circular becomes more difficult to work with here.

Ok here is my temporary commenting system...I don't like it that much but it will have to do for now as I have tried everything else and nothing so far has worked. If anyone else is on charter or one of its brother companies and wants to give me a hand, I would much appreciate it!

Well I kinda messed up my formatting today. While pasting everything into FrontPage and then fiddling worked for awhile...it finally defeated me. Oh well. Still haven't got the archiving or comments set up...been too busy......knitting! Well yesterday I made a baby bootie...it's all right but a pain to work all day on those tiny little needles and come out with such a small project, hehe. Also I started a sock using the magic loop technique on one circular. It is coming out pretty well right now...although mine is knitting inside out (I really don't understand how it is possible not to do that) but I figure I will just knit the entire thing inside out and then flip it when I am done. I don't think that it will be a problem.

I also finally made laces for the garter stitch slippers. My favorite way to make a cording out of any type of non thin yarn is to use a crochet hook, crochet a chain significantly larger than what you will need, and then slip stitch in every stitch. It makes a nice thick string with no stretchiness, and it comes out a lot smaller than the original chain. I love it for handles on bags too.

I really want to start these fuzzy feet slippers but my needles are still on order from Herrschner's. Maybe they will get here today! If not, then I am tempted to go out and get some #8 circulars so I can knit these 2 balls of wool-ease chunky into a nice pair of thick socks! I have been staring at them for awhile and wanting to use them. Well...we'll see...and maybe I will be able to get some pictures up today if I remember and have time.

Friday, July 04, 2003

Ahhh i forgot how boring being home during a weekday really is. I stayed up late last night to finish my hat...I forgot to sew the seam on the opposite side for a flipped up cuff...I'll fix that when I get time. Woke up early this morning and went out for a little bit. Then started working on a pair of baby booties with some of my new yarn. These little 1.75 oz skeins I bought for $.75 each will make 2 pairs each and have leftovers...nice. Been grading...it's slow going...which is unfortunate because it means the scores aren't great. Going to go drop my circulars into some hot water now to straighten em out!

Thursday, July 03, 2003

Woohoo! I got home early today (after raiding Michael's clearance yarns) and finished slipper # 2! Well, finished the knitting part of it anyways. Now I just need to make laces. Then I cast on (and recast on) for my hat and got through all the ribbing and a little bit more before my arms and conscience began to ache. Rest of the night: Work on hat, watch the race, and possibly do some grading.

*New Goal
Figure out how to put one of those comments links into this blog....hrm I have looked all over without much luck. Also, successfully figure out this archiving stuff. Do I have to make and upload a new html file every month????

Well, I didn't get anywhere near the end of my slipper. I got to the foot section though, and I am running out of yarn so I am off to get some more before school today. I think I will also get a number 3 circular, if I can find one, and try knitting a pair of socks on it using the magic loop method. I haven't got the book on it, just saw a site, so I hope I can do it from there. It seems pretty easy anyways. Here is something I read today. How sad...you only get a year in prison for beating your wife but a life sentence for spitting on a police officer...oh where are our priorities

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Woohoo, got goal number 2!

Wow, today actually wasn't that horrible. After an evil telemarketer insulted me yesterday I figured this week was just completely doomed, but it's alright. I finished slipper #1 last night...it is very stretchy, so I guess it's a good thing it will have a lace to gather the top or else it would never stay on. :) I am debating buying a circular knitting needle set at herrschners.com ..... it is only $50 for all the knitting needles and different sized cables...but I should probably research how well they work (if they fall apart) before I do. But I had better do it fast...as free shipping ends Monday. A store in my town is selling 9 teevees for $.99 friday morning...then 9 dvd's for $.99 saturday and 9 gameboys and 9 scooters for $.99 on sunday. I would try to get one, but I bet I would have to be there at about 6am to make that happen. Anyways, I just hope they carry good yarn! :)

*Crafty Thought of the Day
I debated today buying some spools of twine to crochet a purse/bag out of...then possibly cross stitch a design on the front with colored raffia. It might be something to think about.

*Goal for the Night
Make (or get very close to completing) slipper #2 and perhaps cast on for the hat. I don't really have anything I have to do tonight (I should start grading tests, I suppose) so maybe I will have a chance! Another goal...to figure out either how to change the posted time on this thing (as it is off by about 3 hours) or else to suppress it. Suggestions are very welcome!!!

Didn't really make any progress last night...instead I spent most of it working (or attempting) problems in Hilbert Spaces and preparing my recitations. Oh well...stopped by the store tonight and picked up some size 9's so that I can start the hat to go with my winter set when I get a chance. Am now still working on the same slipper...it's going pretty slow cause it's so mindless, I think. But, I should be able to finish it tonight and at least cast on the other...provided I can slay (or at least fatally wound) the Hilbert Spaces beast. Wish me luck!
